as always thanks for sharing GregVancom i guess i have been confused all of my adult life till now, thanks for setting us straight. GregVancom i have a question i live in a older house and in the kitchen there is a tall built in cabinet, floor to ceiling. at about 35 inches from the sub floor there is a thick slatted shelf and at the bottom there is a thinner shelf also slatted and that shelf sits about two inches from the subfloor. there is a vent cut out with wire mesh, wire my guess to keep the critters out and ventilation and also at the top there's another wire meshed vent to the outside wall. sorry if i'm not making any sense of this, but have you ever seen this, since you work on older homes? our best guess is that its a cold storage pantry.
It's not a full bath without a bidet. But I know that's not common in US
The trend in my area is one floor home with a full bath as part of the parents unit and the second bathroom is a full bath also but with the washer and drier in it and a back door to the yard.
that way the house has a mud room, a bathroom and a laundry room all in the same big room, save money in building cost and property taxes.
personally I don't like a bathroom with two doors but clients with young children claim its a good arrangement
Really good video, Greg! To confuse matters further in my home turf, we do not refer to the quarters, but rather the pieces. A 2 piece (Toilet and sink) is called a "Half Bath" or a "Washroom"; whereas both a 4 piece (Bath, shower outlet, Toilet and sink) as well as a 3 piece (either just a bathtub or individual shower, plus a toilet and sink) are both referred to "Bathrooms". However you may also have a 3 piece, consisting of two sinks and toilet or a Bidet, Toilet and two sinks which are both only considered a "Washroom" or "Half Bath". The operative words for a "Bath" is somewhere where you can Bathe; and must therefore have either or both of a "Shower" and/or "Bath" Tub. A "Wash" room is somewhere where you cannot "bathe" but rather only "wash" yourself (face and hands usually). We count the pieces when individually listing each washroom/bathroom.
I had a misconception about the subject, but thanks for taking the time to explain it
