Based on James Clavell’s novel, FX’s Shōgun is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

"We live and we die. We control nothing beyond that."
waiting for the ghost of tsushima live action
Um…How does one promote a redux of a novel published in the 70s as a Netflix Original. Netflix didn't originate this, they adapted it. Sick of advertising thinking we consumers are dumb.
this is fantastic
I hope they include the first meeting between Blackthorn and Toranaga, where Toranaga gives him his own brown silk gown out of respect for learning Japanese so quickly. Once Toranaga leaves they all wait in silence and a servant then asks Blackthorn if he would require a woman, which he immediately refuses, shocked at the question. Confused the servant then offers him a boy, and Blackthorn goes Ab-So-Lute-Ly Mental!!!
So the confused servant turns and asks the guards if maybe he should offer Blackthorn a duck? And the two samurai look at each other in puzzlement and say "best not, he may take more offense". Hahaha such an hilarious scene.
Like gintoki once said… SHOGUN KAYOOOO
I got goosebumps. Look sooooo good
can we retire the Romeo and Juliet trope please
The real Shogun movie was made in 1980 and was a masterpiece… I really hope this will be atleas as good as that one.
Wait, no black samurai or female European general?
omg i read the book
I have spent countless hours reading the book (multiple times), reading the rest of Clavell’s Asia series, and watching the Richard Chamberlain miniseries (multiple times). I found all of them to be good, but flawed and (in the case of the miniseries) dated as soon as it came out.
I hope this one does not disappoint. I’m not optimistic: Cosmo Jarvis (Blackthorne) looks soft and doughy. Blackthorne should be hard and gritty.
Why it's always when a white guy with asian woman they always bang
SO EXCITED and it's about time for this remake. Plus….Hiroyuki Sanada is the ONLY choice. Will also be great to see the great talent of Cosmo Jarvis in this series. A light for the cold winter. Not much for TV, but really looking forward to this!
So excited for this adaptation
Anoying cast
Is this related to blue eye samurai??
Why they always gotta shoehorn a white guy into Japanese culture
Are the 3 hearts similar to the psychology of the "ego, superego and ID"?
Takeru Satoh would be a perfect Samurai, but sadly Hollywood didn't recognised him
This is a remake of the 1980 TV series. Surely many of you were not born then.
